Newsletter #59
Dear Subscribers,
Due to technical difficulties, I won’t be able to actually send this to everyone until the end of the month, but…
About my storied performance at Beach Daisy 9/19, many people have declared such outlandish things as, “You commanded the room.” I couldn’t tell. The only thing that saved me was that, during those few minutes in front of that very tight crowd, I was Lostine’s narrator Chet. I became Koz.
So, just yesterday, 10/3, at the Waldport Library, I re-enacted Chet and Koz to a much smaller group.
Writing this now, I struggle to express what that even more demanding second performance revealed to me: at Lostine’s launch, the whole tone and feel being set by Dave Osti’s playing, there was so much validating enthusiasm and approving energy heating Beach Daisy, that it was as if I couldn’t fail. It was so easy for me to step out onto that cloud and just be part of the fun.
The truly hard part now is finding the elusive feeling that I have acknowledged all your many encouraging deeds or smiles that have enabled me to dare so much.
Thank you all for launching Lostine into her commercial life.

PS: My cap is still in my hand to all of Lostine’s advance reviewers. Future reviews of Lostine at Amazon, Goodreads or Barnes & Noble are still needed. (Opening a free Amazon account makes it easy)
