My right hand is trying to keep clearly in mind what my left hand is doing.

Current, the big left-hand writing project is the scripting and production of a You Tube video featuring my first novel LOSTINE. About a week ago, I and PhiARCHITECT.com did a studio attempt, but I ended up looking like a disconnected old guy who frowns perpetually. Nothing about our approach lit me up, hence the now developing “scripting” of the video beforehand(which, probably everybody else thinks is obvious). Possibly, we will re-shoot the video next week.

My right hand keeps running off the right-hand edge of the legal pad with bits of my second novel MOTHERSHIP’s present re-write. The real problem is that I am writing MOTHERSHIP in the shadow of LOSTINE’s perfection. Gra-a-a-dually, I am making the connection between the two action venues of MOTHERSHIP. I have a LOT of kick-in-the-pants material done. MOTHERSHIP will live up to expectations.

But every day working on this second novel requires what Amelia Earhart phrased the hard part - the “Decision to act.”

Basic time management requires that I speed everywhere - except when chewing or driving on U.S. Highway 101.

Joe Smolen

Joe C. Smolen, AKA L.W. Smolen is an Oregon Coast writer of insufficiently exaggerated notoriety. Never having been arrested, he lives with his wife Sherrie and the ghost of their black, Standard Poodle Rico Suave in a really pretty good, Prairie Style house they built themselves. Since the Literary Magazine Fleas on the Dog of Kitchener, Ontario has permanently stopped accepting submissions, in order to read L.W. Smolen’s 2021 short fiction, A Real Guy, you are referred to joecsmolen.com. Some of L.W’s other, subsequent short fictions are archived at Olive Tree Review, Ginosko, Cardinal Sins Journal, Wrath Bearing Tree, Wilderness House and etc. Kirkus reviews once interpreted his work favorably.
